The Piano Studio of Rebecca M. Calissi offers private piano instruction for students of all ages and levels. Its mission is to teach, motivate, and encourage students to understand and enjoy the richness and complexity of piano music, expand intellectual creativity and curiosity in the music-making process, and express and share with others. Its aim is to provide a structured and well-rounded musical education, instilling a love of music and developing students' abilities to their full potential.
Rebecca McNair Calissi received her undergraduate degree in Piano Performance from Huntingdon College and a Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has accompanied vocalists, instrumentalists and ensembles throughout the Southeast and New England regions and premiered new works such as Ken Davies's Sapphire Kaleidoscope and Anthony Cornicello’s A Coney Island of the Mind. Rebecca regularly performs with Hartford Opera Theater and has premiered new operas such as Philip Martin's Fall Back and The Family Plan as well as Avery Griffin's A Game of Chess. She is an active member of the Music Teachers National Association, currently serving as Historian and Member Program Chair for the Hartford Connecticut chapter. In addition to her private piano studio, Rebecca is an Instructor of Music at Eastern Connecticut State University. Along with her husband, Jeff Calissi, she performs locally and regionally in the marimba and piano chamber group Una Duo.
